David M. Philips, MD
Dr. David M. Philips is a board certified gastroenterologist with 33 years of experience and has practiced in Shreveport since 1987. He is a partner with GastroIntestinal Specialists and serves on the Board of Directors. He has served as the Medical Director for Shreveport Endoscopy Center, an ambulatory surgery center, as well as the President of the Medical Staff for Willis Knighton Medical Center. Dr. Philips has represented GastroIntestinal Specialists as the President in the past and currently has been serving as the President since 2013. Before GIS, he served in the United States Air Force as a Staff Gastroenterologist and Chief of Gastroenterology. His professional societies include American College of Physicians, American Gastroenterological Association, American College of Gastroenterology, Louisiana State Medical Society and Shreveport Medical Society. Dr. Philips has been honored with the “Best Doctors of Shreveport” Award every year since 2007 as well as the “Best Doctors of Louisiana” Award since 2010. Dr. Philips’s training consists of a Gastroenterology and Hepatology Fellowship from the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics including his internship and residency. He graduated from Emory University School of Medicine after completing a Bachelor degree program in Chemistry.
