Pathology Laboratory

CAP Accredited Our endoscopy center also has a dedicated pathology laboratory that is accredited by the College of American Pathologists (CAP). Here, our board certified pathologists and histo-technicians process specimens from our endoscopy center. Since our pathology laboratory is "in-house" we have efficient specimen processing to better serve our patients.

Dr. Carl "Chris" Gable, III

Dr. Carl 'Chris' Gable, III

Dr. Carl "Chris" Gable, III, is a board certified pathologist and has been practicing with GastroIntestinal Specialists since 2010. His areas of interests include Barrett's esophagus and related dysplasia. Dr. Gable was honored as the Anatomic Pathology Co-chief Resident (2006-2007) and was both Magna Cum Laude (1994) and Summa Cum Laude (1993) at the University of Tennessee. Professional societies include American Society of Clinical Pathology, College of American Pathologists, and Shreveport Medical Society.

Dr. Gable's training consists of a Fellowship from the University of Pennsylvania, preceded by his residencies from both Ohio State University and East Tennessee State University. Before graduating from East Tennessee State University with a Medical Degree, Dr. Gable completed a Bachelor's Degree program in Psychology from the University of Tennessee.

He grew up in Knoxville, TN. His hobbies include music, playing guitar, and outdoor activities such as hiking and bike riding.

Dr. Enrique Gonzalez

Dr. Enrique Gonzalez is a board certified pathologist with 53 years of experience and has been practicing with GastroIntestinal Specialists since 2008. His areas of interests include general gastroenterology, pediatric pathology, and autopsy pathology. He has been honored for his outstanding performance as a teaching instructor on multiple occasions including the Excellence in Teaching Award from Louisiana State University Health Sciences Center in 2008. Dr. Gonzalez also served as the Medical Director of Autopsy Services at Louisiana State University Health Sciences Center for 14 years. Professional societies include American Society of Clinical Pathology, College of American Pathologists, International Academy of Pathology U.S. & Canadian Division, Louisiana State Medical Society, and Shreveport Medical Society.

Dr. Gonzalez completed his residency from the University of Maryland, preceded by his residency from St. Jose University in Colombia where he also completed his internship. He graduated from Javeriana University located in Colombia with a Medical Degree.

He grew up in Colombia. His hobbies include automobile mechanics, gardening, and running.
