Billing And Insurance

We participate with most local and many national insurance plans. However, it is your responsibility to understand whether your insurance has limits on the doctors you can see or the services you can receive.

If you provide complete and accurate information about your insurance, we will submit claims to your insurance carrier and receive payments for services. Depending on your insurance coverage, you may be responsible for co-payments, co-insurance or other deductible amounts.

Medicare

We are Participating Physicians in the Medicare program. We will file with Medicare for services you receive, and Medicare will pay our office. Our contractual arrangement with Medicare mandates that we accept their “Approved” amount as our charge for that service. Medicare will then pay 80% of the approved amount to us after you have met your annual deductible. If you provide us with Medicare supplemental insurance cards, we will also file for the Medicare deductible and co-insurance. If there is an amount due after your supplemental insurance has paid or if your claim is denied, it is your responsibility to clear your account with us. If you do not have other insurance coverage, you are responsible for the deductible and co-insurance amounts. You should not receive a bill until Medicare has paid its portion.

Uninsured

If you have no health insurance, please call our billing office as early as possible so that arrangements can be made.

Charges

Office visits are a professional fee when you see one of our providers. Any medicines prescribed or testing ordered by the provider are not included. You will be billed separately for those services.

Procedures are billed by the Shreveport Endoscopy Center, A.M.C. and are called facility fees, which include a fee for the use of the facility, cost of medications, supplies, equipment, etc. This is much like the hospital’s fee. The physician’s fee is separate.

During your procedure, you may require additional medical services by an anesthesiologist, certified registered nurse anesthetist (CRNA) or pathologist. You will be billed separately for those services.

Anesthesia services will be billed by Shreveport Sedation Services. These services will be provided during endoscopy procedures performed at the Shreveport Endoscopy Center.

Pathology orders will be placed if specimens obtained during your endoscopy procedure are sent for pathological processing. You will receive bills from Advanced Pathology Services for professional charges and GastroIntestinal Specialists for technical charges and any pathology services performed at the Shreveport Endoscopy Center.

Laboratory orders could be placed during an office visit or procedure. You will receive bills from the lab provider, such as Omega or Willis-Knighton.

Hospital charges will include professional and facility charges. You will receive bills from our office for the provider. You will receive separate billing from the hospital for the admission and hospital stay.
