J. Mark Provenza, MD

Dr. J. Mark Provenza is a gastroenterologist who has been practicing with GIS since 1990. He is currently a partner with GastroIntestinal Specialists and serves on the Board of Directors. Dr. Provenza is a clinical investigator with the Louisiana Research Center. He has participated in more than 100 research studies. His particular areas of interest include gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD), colon cancer prevention and screening, and inflammatory bowel disease (IBD).

Dr. Provenza’s training consists of a Gastroenterology Fellowship, a residency and a medical degree from Louisiana State University Medical Center in Shreveport. Before attending medical school, he received a Bachelor of Science from Louisiana State University in Shreveport. Dr. Provenza is a member of the American Society for Gastrointestinal Endoscopy.

Dr. Provenza is a Shreveport native. He enjoys tennis and painting.
