GENERAL SUMMARY OF DUTIES: Performs selected nursing and clerical duties that assist in the delivery of primary health care and patient care management. Other duties as assigned by Supervisor.

TYPICAL PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Full range of body motion required to include occasional handling and lifting of patients, manual and finger dexterity and eye-hand coordination. Requires corrected vision and hearing to normal range. Working under stressful conditions and working irregular hours. Potential for exposure to communicable diseases or bodily fluids.
TYPICAL WORKING CONDITIONS: Frequent exposure to communicable diseases, toxic substances, medicinal preparations and other conditions common to a clinical environment.
EXAMPLES OF DUTIES: (May not include all of the duties assigned)
- Assists nurses in clinical area with patient care.
- Maintains timely flow of patients.
- Greets patients and prepares them for physician examination.
- Screens patients for appropriate information.
- Transports patients by wheelchair to exit.
- Assists nurse in disinfecting and cleaning of exam rooms.
- Responsible for preparation of exam rooms including restocking and cleaning.
- Assists nurses in preparing forms and schedules prior to patient’s arrival.
- Cleans and disinfects all clinic equipment and related instruments as needed.
- Keeps work area clean.
- Maintain good hygiene with proper uniform and shoes per practice guidelines.
- Attends required meetings as requested.
- Assist in training of new personnel.
- Maintains work area in neat and organized manner.
- Maintains patient confidentiality.
- Performs related work as required.
PERFORMANCE REQUIREMENTS:
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
- Knowledge of practice procedures and policies.
- Knowledge of business office procedures.
- Knowledge of grammar, spelling, punctuation to relay messages and input patient information.
- Skill in operating a computer, photocopy machine, and fax machine.
- Skill in answering the telephone in a pleasant and helpful manner.
- Ability to speak clearly and concisely.
- Ability to communicate effectively.
- Ability to read and write English at a high school level.
- Ability to read, understand and follow verbal and written instructions.
- Ability to count and do basic arithmetic calculations.
- Ability to sort and file material correctly by alphabetic and numeric systems.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with patients, employees, and the public.
EDUCATION: High school diploma or GED.
EXPERIENCE:
- Prefer one year work experience, but not required
