GENERAL SUMMARY OF DUTIES: Provides professional care under supervision for patients in the endoscopy center. Collaborates with other caregivers and is responsible for the technical functions related to assisting with GI procedures.

TYPICAL PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Requires full range of body motion including handling and lifting patients, manual and finger dexterity and eye-hand coordination. Requires standing and walking for extended periods of time. Occasionally lifts and carries items weighing up to 100 pounds. Requires corrected vision and hearing to normal range. Requires working under stressful conditions. Requires exposure to communicable diseases or bodily fluids.
TYPICAL WORKING CONDITIONS: Frequent exposure to communicable diseases, toxic substances, and other conditions common to an endoscopy center environment.

- Supports physicians and nurses with the preparation and set up of appropriate equipment and supplies for each procedure.
- Transports patients, maintains disinfection of equipment and patient environment performs and maintains disinfection quality control documentation, and provides patient care as directed.
- Maintains equipment inventory.
- Sets up room between procedures.
- Anticipates instrument needs intra procedure and assists the physician during diagnostic and therapeutic procedures.
- Collects and processes specimens.
- Maintains and reviews patient records, charts, and other pertinent information.
- Ensures cleanliness of working environment. Prepares list of medical supplies needed.
- Attends required meetings and participates in committees as requested.
- Maintains patient confidentiality.
- Performs related work as required.

EDUCATION: High School Graduate or equivalent experience; graduate of an accredited school of surgical tech preferred but not required
