Humberto I Aguilar, MD

Dr. Humberto Aguilar is a board-certified gastroenterologist and hepatologist with 20 years of experience who began practicing in the Shreveport area in 2001. He is a partner with GastroIntestinal Specialists, serves on the Board of Directors, and is the Principal Investigator and Medical Director of the Louisiana Research Center. Particular areas of interest include hepatitis C and inflammatory bowel disease (Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis). He was designated as a Fellow of the American College of Gastroenterology in 1999 and as a Fellow of the American Gastroenterological Association in 2009. Dr. Aguilar was one of the authors in a recently published article on “New Treatments for Hepatitis C” in The New England Journal of Medicine. Other professional affiliations include the American Society for Gastrointestinal Endoscopy, American Association for the Study of Liver Diseases, and the Crohn’s & Colitis Foundation.
